Agate Hunting on Lake Superior

On this particular day, my mom, brother Aaron, Isabella, Kaitlyn and I all went down to Lake Superior (Duluth's claim to fame is that it is the largest freshwater port in the world - last I heard anyway).

My family are all avid agate hunters (myself the only exception as I have found maybe three agates in my whole life).

Lake Superior agates are prized for their color and marbling and are found all over the Duluth area.

While they all hunted for agates, Isabella and I enjoyed the beautiful sunny weather on the beach and walked the boardwalk ("lakewalk") down to Leif Erikson Park and rose garden.

I'm working on embedding a photo slideshow soon to show more photos from the trip. Stay tuned.

P.S. This is what an agate looks like.

OK - now I have to look up what an agate looks like cause I don't think we have those in TX! hahaha.

Looks like you had a great time. I'm glad you made it back ok. I want to hear all about our adventures in flying alone and so forth.

Still miss you and I still miss the UK -- especially since its still close to 100 here.

Don Willie y Donia Aida - Esperamos verles pronto porque Isabella ha crecido mucho!!!! A ella le gusta visitar con familia y me da pena que no vivimos cerca de familia.

Amanda - I posted that agate photo just for you! And Ben is looking so cute and big - Isabella is right on his heels in the department.

And Jess - it was an amazing day! Sunshine in Minnesota can be just as unpredictable as it is here in the UK.
